Today was my first day to ride in the rain. It was light rain and I was already drenched in sweat. My feet were squishing in my shoes even before the rain, so whatever. There aren’t many places to stay for the next couple hundred miles, and they are supposed to be the hardest couple hundred. I know I keep saying it’s the hardest miles, but this time it’s for reals y’all. So many steep climbs. Btw, all you can eat pizza right before really hard climbs is bad idea. Anyway, the church hostel cycling thing I was aiming for today said they weren’t taking cyclists in when I called. I think that’s what they said, so I ended up camping at breaks interstate campground right on the Kentucky Virginia border. First state done! At 28$ for an electric and water site, this is my cheapest night so far. Hey, fireflies!
Tomorrow I’m aiming for a different church cycling hostel thing, and the guy who answered the phone said the pastor could help me out, so yeah.
I’m not really a big fan of camping by myself at campgrounds. Out in the wilderness by myself alright, I can be alone. But being by myself in a tent surrounded by people socializing feels weird.
