Took an off day at the wonderful hostel I found myself at. It’s full of Appalaichain trail hikers, and they are a wonderful group of guys who all go by a trail name. Lionheart was cool, Treehouse runs the place, Outzi the Iceman heard I was looking for bear mace, and gave me a big cannister of it. Bonfire from Sheffield was stuck there because he burned his foot quite badly making some ramen on the trail. Quartz was a musician rapper guy who napped most of the time I saw him. Bonnie (her actual name I think) ran the place, and it just had a really awesome vibe, and I felt so happy just to hang out and socialize that I really didn’t work on my pictures, or my blog, or much of anything else today. There were more characters whose names escape me, but last night and tonight were my two favorite off bike times so far.
I did go to the bike shop just for a bit to have a couple things checked and done. I happily told the bike shop guy that I was done with my hardest days, and he informed me that no, in fact I have not. There are a few more really long really steep sections, and those will be coming up in the next couple days, so that’s something to look forward to. Oh joy.
Also, there was a really cool moth on the wall that I was absolutely convinced was a decoration on the wall, but no, it was actually a real moth. Cool day.
